John Jr. Presents: JLA – The Yesterday War

Because John Jr. is an animal, doesn’t like to take breaks, and has been working on this project for weeks, FRP is proud to announce yet another DC EZScript mod featuring some of their biggest stars. I’ll let JJ fill you in on the particulars of this 8 mission project, and you can see some pics after the jump!

Superboy, the Teen of Steel; Aquaboy, young master of the oceans; and The Executioner, a dark clad vigilante. What menace could unite these three young heroes? A terrible conspiracy against Earth, a mystery unknown to everyone else… except Police Detective John Jones. Now Jones must join forces with the teen heroes to save the world in a secret war battled from the deep seas to Mars’ deserts.

Buffy: FF1 Mod

Sorry for the lack of updates, gang, but there really hasn’t been much to report… until now. Although this should have been a part of the FF1 Depot we here at FRP2 had during anniversary week, I just got the OK from Bredon7777 to rehost his old school Buffy mod for Freedom Force 1. Although it is only 2 missions long with three briefing screens, it’s fun to look at how we’ve evolved since the early days of modding, and Bredon sure knows his way around the Buffy/Whedon quirky dialogue. The majority of the Scoobies make an appearance in the story, but unfortunately, you only get to play as three of them. Also, this mod seems to be placed sometime during season 5 (Post-Riley), so if that’s your favorite season, what’s stopping you from grabbing this mod and playing your heart out?

The All Mod Post

If you don’t know by now then you certainly haven’t been paying attention. We’re a site that loves to prop up and support our fellow community members as much as we possibly can, and I feel kinda bad that I forgot to promote a few new mods that have popped up over the past few weeks. Forgive me and follow along, dear readers.

DCUG

DCUG (FFv3R)

I don’t know how often you all kept up with the ongoings of the community, but this is a mod that has been in the making for literally years. Swarmed with controversy and disagreements, Benton Grey has finally gotten this mod out even though he had to make a few sacrifices with the content and it’s not fully finished. However, don’t let that stop you, this mod comes PACKED with content to better represent the DC universe ranging from meshes and skins to FX and actual playable missions. I’m not sure of the exact details, but I believe there’s over 4 main missions in this thing and it’s quite the big download (over a gig), so make sure you have some space if you’re ogling this one, my friends.

Amazanauts -- Dr. Mike/AA

Amazanauts by Dr. Mike and Afghan Ant

So, if you haven’t been keeping up with forum news, then you probably don’t know what this post is about. That’s OK; let me fill you in on some deets. A few months ago, Dr. Mike teased that he was returning to modding. As time passed, we learned that he and Afghan Ant were working together on a new mod that would introduce some new and interesting tricks into the Freedom Force modding circuit. A few weeks ago, myself and a few others got to test the beta version. As of today, the mod is finally out and you can grab it here: Amazanauts

PCTales, Episode 3

They’ve been away for awhile, but Freedom Force is back in action with an all new episode of Patriot City Tales brought to you by the EZscript duo team of John Jr. and Benton Grey. With 6 new missions in stow, what will you be facing this episode?

  1. Order had a life before he was forcefully merged with Law and joined the Freedom Force team. When someone from his past winds up in trouble, Law and Order rush in to save the day… and discover something shocking along the way.
  2. Red moon is back and the young Freedom Forcers discover exactly who she is and why she’s so angry.
  3. Mentor finally decides to leave the base with Microwave following closely behind him. After receiving a call telling the duo to head into Patriot City park, they discover a series of things that shouldn’t be possible! What does it mean, heroes? What does it all mean?
  4. After Ant’s tricky adventure with El Diablo ended with him in a state of unconsciousness, he has something to prove. Gathering a team together to head into the base of Deja Vu to save Minute Man should do the trick just fine.
  5. After saving his friend from danger, The Ant teams up with the southern belle, Alchemiss, to patrol the city after receiving a call from the police. What they discover is the beginning of a beautiful friendship and new enemies that threaten to end it just as quickly.
  6. Overwhelmed by his sudden burst of popularity and eagerness to head into the field, The Ant takes some time to himself by visiting the Patriot City Museum… but such is a life of hero that trouble finds him wherever he goes.

Freedom Force Depot

This week, I’ve gone a little out of my way to find old FF1 mods and contact their creators to see if it was OK to rehost their lost creations. As I’ve said before about retrospection, I think it’s very good idea for the community to take a step back and look at how far we’ve come since this series began. A lot of tricks have been found, the mechanics have been tightened, and the community is now able to do things that we weren’t capable of doing back in 2002. Heck, I’m still being amazed by some of the stuff that’s coming out of the woodworks now. Anyway, 3 new FF1 mods have been added to the site. They are Psiworld by Jseturtle2, Marvel Action Mod by Furie, and Blade/Defenders by FFJands. If you’re feeling a bit nostalgic, go give those a play, and thanks to all the early creators for their contributions.

World’s Finest

Ez scripter extraordinaire John Jr returns to active duty this week by bringing us his lovely World’s Finest mod, featuring Superman and Batman. With the world in chaos, dinos running wild, and aliens infiltrating Earth, why not help the duo keep things in order with this 4 mission mod. You can find it on the mods page, but if you’re a little too lazy to hop over there, just click here. You will need to create your own mod executive (read: launcher) to play this mod.

LSH – Title Screen

Title Screen

New Title Screen

Because a few of you wanted J.J. to add a title and some other custom screens to his recently released Legion of Super Heroes mod, John Jr. went ahead and did it up and put it out for you all to download on the mods page (or if you’re lazy, here). There’re no install directions included in the zip, but all you need to do is unzip the pack in your [mod name]\Art\library directory. Enjoy!

P.S., are you interested in John Jr.’s next mod project? How about giving this thread a peek. Could it be? The World’s Finest heroes back in action?

Happy Anniversary, FRP!

In honor of our upcoming anniversary, the members and associates of FRP2 have been hard at work at providing a bunch of new material for you all to play with and enjoy. There’re still some stuff left in the ether, so don’t think we don’t have a few more surprises in store for ya. First up, The Crisis Mod has been updated to version 1.1. Included in this update is map fixes, three new characters, some level updates and changes (Aquaman, penultimate mission, etc.) and a few aesthetic changes. Also up for grabs is several new skopes by Dana which you can find on the skopes page. Rounding out the new stuff, Spotlight on MikeB7 and the release of a new FX Pack, PFX 1.2, are up in their respective areas.

As an aside, our thanks goes out to John Jr. for providing a Legion of Superheroes update, which is unofficially part of our Anniversary extravaganza. :P

LSH 2b

Legion of Superheroes, round 2

What a great way to start off February, right? John Jr. has been working away on completing his Legion mod for awhile, and today, he finally brings it forth  With a total of 8 missions and a wide-load of changes, why don’t you join the Legionnaires and see what makes them so great? Heck, why not download it and then tell JJ just how much fun you had? Unfortunately, as I’ve been told, so much was changed in the mod that a patch form was a little difficult to create, so if you downloaded Version 1 of the mod, you’ll have to replace it with the current copy. Enjoy!
