Go out with a Bang!

2010 will officially be over in a few hours, so why not top it off with a bunch of brand new FX for your game? That’s right! You got your Christmas gift in the form of a mod, and you’re rewarded again with some new effects to spice up your game. Aren’t you guys just a lucky bunch?


Moving forward into 2011, I hope there is more participation on the site and continued goodies from us as we try to keep the game alive for yet another year. We appreciate the support, and we wouldn’t mind if you continued to stick around for a little while longer.
PFX Update?

No, that probably won’t be happening any time soon, but I am aware a texture or two was left out of the pack. That’s my fault, but on the other hand, it took months for someone to tell me (AA) and then a week after that for someone to tell me again. How weird, heh. Anyway, you can grab that texture here [click] and I’d really appreciate it if you guys would tell me if you run into any other issues. The file needs to go in your [...]Data\Art\library\fx\_textures folder. This is a sample (and recommended) path of the installation, but make sure to put the file in the correct place where you installed your FX.

As you may know, FRPMods went down a few weeks ago, and since that time, I and a few other people have been working away at restoring and backing up stuff for you all to grab at your own leisure. Yes, again, you will be able to grab that content in due time. Be patient, as setting up all that stuff takes a lot of effort. And because I’ve learned it bears repeating: content will be re-available.
Moving along, I’ve done some updating on FRP2 to fix any broken links I came across. This includes some of Conduit’s maps that ended up broken, a bunch of FX, and some mods. In fact, you will also find some newish content on the site if you go searching for it. Why don’t I help you out and give you a list.
Fixed/New Content:
- Along with the pic/link fixes on the FX page, there are now 4 new FX to grab. These fx were done by Conduit a few years back.
- The Crisis and Exiles mods have been moved to the FRP2 mod page.
- The Batman Mod is available again
- Spiderman and The Marvel Knights by C4 is available again.
And there’s more to come. On the Horizon, new skopes and skins will be available, as well as a bunch of new FX. There’s also a chance more FRP1 content will end up here. We’ll see.
Bombs Away

Thanks to an old mesher buddy (Syn), I’ve finally gotten a chance to work on an FX I wanted to put out years ago, a bomb, which should be a nice alternative to all the grenade tossing the game left us with by default. I made three variants of the bomb right out the gate, just to provide some diversity (and to cross one off my list). Check ‘em out below and then go download them off the FX page, if you fancy them.

Hark! The Mighty Mjolnir Comeths!

Hey, I said it was coming soon. Now on FRP2, you can grab some updated Thor Hammer Throw FXes. Major thanks to C6 for allowing me to use his textures, Grenadier for making a new Thor mesh, which you can find on Champions, and Renegade for the side throw animation. Outside of putting this pack together and doing some skope and max work (years ago), I take no major credit for these FX.

Thor? No, Mjolnir!

Since Grenadier decided to give the FF community two more Thor meshes, I decided to begin work on some updated mjolnir throws. Let me know your thoughts, K? They probably won’t be released soon as I haven’t actually done the TGAs for them. I believe the skins that I’m currently using are from a C6 skin. Of course, if he says it’s fine for me to keep them as is, then that’ll up the release date. Yep, I’m that lazy.
How to Merge Dats

Merging dats is something that can be a little confusing the first few times you do it, so FRP2 decided to help you out with a little tutorial. Make sure you back up all your files before continuing!

In honor of our upcoming anniversary, the members and associates of FRP2 have been hard at work at providing a bunch of new material for you all to play with and enjoy. There’re still some stuff left in the ether, so don’t think we don’t have a few more surprises in store for ya. First up, The Crisis Mod has been updated to version 1.1. Included in this update is map fixes,three new characters, some level updates and changes (Aquaman, penultimate mission, etc.) and a few aesthetic changes. Also up for grabs is several new skopes by Dana which you can find on the skopes page. Rounding out the new stuff, Spotlight on MikeB7 and the release of a new FX Pack, PFX 1.2, are up in their respective areas.
As an aside, our thanks goes out to John Jr. for providing a Legion of Superheroes update, which is unofficially part of our Anniversary extravaganza.
FRP Presents: PFX 1.2!

I’ve been seeing requests for it all over the forums, and I figured it was about time someone did something about it. Although it’s probably not as robust or as put together as Alex’s EZFX, this pack comes with around 216 FX that I’ve made over the years + custom sounds that I’ve found to be suitable. A LOT of work went into this pack, and it may have its fair share of issues. If you happen to come across an error or two, please don’t hesitate to let us know either here in the comment section, on FR, or from the “Contact Us” button up above. Many thanks to The Ultimate Evil, Murs47, Electro, Tomato, Tommyboy, Beyonder, and others who’ve helped me create (or have created) all these fx over the years.
- This pack is set up to install into the BASE directory of FFv3R. If you want the FX to appear in FFX or other mods, you’ll need to merge or exchange your FX.dat and Sound.dat files. Make sure to back-up!
- This pack does come with some old fx that haven’t been put up on the site and some newer fx that were never released in any of the previous packs.
