Why not go old school and try out some of these classic mods?
The X-Mod
This old school mod was made by Jands a few years ago. Complete with custom voices and the obligatory X-men vs. Brotherhood showdowns over a couple of missions, this is one mod you should check out to reignite your nostalgia. Unfortunately, it was never completed, I did manage to track down the missions below for your enjoyment. Hosted with permission.
Aliens vs. Predator
Another short and unfinished mod by Jands that he allowed FRP to host. This one only goes two missions in and I don’t recall if it ever got a widespread release, but it’s here now. Quick simple fun featuring alien creatures…what more could you ask for?
Hero City
Yet another older mod that was previously left without a host after the creators’ site went down. This one is quite a difficult mod to complete, but it’s pretty fun and the coding is awesome. You’re given a chance to create a 5k street level hero that can be upgraded as you compete each mission. The mod is unfinished, but 9 missions will give you quite a bit to play with. Similar to the others mods, this one is also hosted with permission. Created by Jands, Lude, and Arlecchino. All links come with an installer.
Spider-man and the Marvel Knights
Join Spider-man over a campaign of 18 levels in his quest to make the world a safer, happier, and well adjusted place. Along the way Spidey will head up and start the Marvel Knights a group of heroes who are pure of heart and bold in battle. Some of them might be not so pure of heart, but at least they are on the right side. These Marvel Knights will also be joined by two Marvel power houses: Dr. Strange and Hulk.
Another goody made by C4 and hosted with permission. It’s more or less a conversion mod, but fun none-the-less! Also, I urge you to give his FFVTTR mod, Reformed, a try! You just might enjoy the darker, more mature tone of the mod.
B**** Brigade
Yet another mod that had lost its home. Made by al_kemyst, the mod focuses on a bunch of women that make of the B. Brigade team–Bureau of Investigation for Tactical Covert Hazards–as they try to put a stop to a series of crimes in a gritty city. The mod hangs around the PG area and, though it sits on the unfinished mark, episode 1 comes with four completed missions that’ll take you a good while to finish. Like all the other mods, this is hosted with permission.
Blade and the Defenders
Join Blade and the Defenders in this 4 mission mod that skirts normalcy and stays in the realm of preternatural. Said to be Jand’s first mod, this is an add-on that isn’t very difficult or time consuming to play. If you find yourself a fancier of characters such as Dr. Strange, Hellstrom, Hellcat, or Blade, this is something you just might want to experience. As an act of benevolence, I’m including the Terrain.exe (you’ll only need to download this if you do not have FFedit for FF1 installed) and a small patch below that will make the mod more playable. Thanks to Phantasm for providing the Terrain.exe outside of FFedit. Save files are also included with the game if you find yourself running into errors.
Marvel Super Action Mod
Why not relive Cap’s glory days, and a classic moment before he joined the Avengers, in this old school mod by Furie. Featuring Bucky, Baron Zemo, Red Skull, and the Avengers themselves, Captain America finds himself reflecting on his old days with Bucky and wondering if time really is unchangeable. This mod is only 3 missions long and comes with voice acting. Unfortunately, however, whoever made the executive made it kind of messy, so you will have to move files around. You may also find yourself making use of the save files included with the game. Give it a try. It’s short, quick fun!
Psiworld
Psiworld is a mod by Jseturtle2 that takes place in a post-apocalyptic world where mutants are feared and are cast out into the wild. The mutants they are apprehend the most are those known as “psychic mutants.” Because of this, an evil cult has begun to rise and take over and Sleepwalker refuses to let it continue.
Unfortunately, this mod is unfinished, but it comes with 5 missions with some voice acting. I would say it hovers around the challenging area, so if you’re up for some tough missions, this is the mod for you. If you want more information on the story, go here.
Buffy Mod
Yet another old school Freedom Force mod graces our presence, and this time, it’s by Bredon7777! Although it’s only 2 missions long, this mod manages to imitate Whedon’s quirky dialog, and it’s set some time during Season 5 of the hit TV show, BtVS. I have modified the mod a little to include head.nifs for the majority of the characters, so that the mod will no longer randomly crash, and I did a little fixing to one of the cutscenes in mission 1 so that it plays through correctly. If you’re needing your Buffy fix, this is the mod for you!
