The Road of Decadence
Feb 18th
Perspectives are funny things that everyone has and helps to shape them into the people we know and love (or hate). A few weeks ago, The Ultimate Evil and I made a deal where I would take a set of his photos and write a story that was inspired from it. Initially, I wanted an abstract piece because I felt that it would be easier to visualize ideas, but I eventually settled on nature piece that caught my eye a few months prior. After getting TUE to do a few minor edits to fit the photo into a certain mood I was going for, I began to write. The story was coming along fine, but eventually I hit a mental road block where I forced myself not to write. Around this point, I chatted with Detourne_me and shared with him a few ideas I had. He encouraged the “double perspective piece,” and a few days later I started story 2. Flash forward to a two days ago, I finished story 2 and began to think about how I wanted to end story 1. Unfortunately, nothing came to mind until today when I finally broke through my self-imposed mental block and wrote the conclusion. Hopefully, UE and anyone who happens to read the stories like it and give me some thumbs up. If he doesn’t, maybe I’ll get some good feedback. Anyway, the story is below. Let me hear your thoughts, OK? Oh, and don’t forget to check out UE’s Deviant Art page to see more of his work.

The Evengers: Chapter 1
Feb 15th
Exactly one year ago from Saturday (Feb. 13th), I began writing volume 1 of The Evengers in an effort to flesh out the characters and the world they live in. Realizing that the mod didn’t provide the player with any prominent details, range, or scope, I set out to really dig into the minds of these characters starting with the female cast members Ms. Marvel and her rival Iron Girl. Of course, I decided that I should make a real change with Jean and make her very different from the motherly role she eventually embodied in Marvel’s main universe, and I decided that Iron Girl (Tonya Starks) should be an experiment that was slowly breaking free of her restraints. Why don’t you guys tell me how well I did as I show off chapter 1? It’s a 4 page read, so make sure you have some time on your hands.
Meet The Evengers
Jan 30th
Although I haven’t done much with them publicly, The Evengers is a team that is very close to my heart. Part of the villain cast of the Exiles mod, The Evengers were created to be alternate, amalgam versions of some of Marvel’s premier superheroes and some of their collective rogue galleries. What’s an amalgam, you ask? Think of it as a mixture of character traits, ideologies, histories, and/or abilities, though it’s really not limited to just that. Anyway, it was an idea I was really pushing for because I had plans to use them later. Unfortunately, those plans never came to pass, but I was very grateful that at least the skins were created, and I had fleshed out their backgrounds.
The Inner Workings of a Collaboration
Dec 8th
It’s no big secret that I’ve been part of several collaboration projects over the years ranging from small FX based efforts to whole team-based mods. The thing about these types of situations though is that they never tend to come without their share of work. The pros are nice, but you have to factor that against the cons. When you’re part of a group, you tend to really discover who you can and cannot work with. The document that follows are some things I’ve picked up on and learned from all the FF based alliances I’ve had over the years. Maybe it’ll help you out, maybe it won’t. Eh. Your choice.
Chocolate: A Love Affair?
Nov 6th
Sometimes, when I’m in a creative zone, I write things that freak me out to a degree. This is one of those times. In an effort to stretch my writing muscle after a few months of inactivity outside of comic, film, and song writing, I decided to give Bluebard’s fiction challenge a try. This… was the result. If you’re wondering, yes, I do sometimes think I fell off the deep end and never recovered. I tend to blame Murs for such things.
Ultimate Trio: The Script
Jul 27th
Some of you might remember a little mod I made last year that goes by the name of Ultimate Trio. If you don’t know what it is or didn’t get a chance to play, it was a mod that focused on three heroes–Iceman, Human Torch, and Deadpool–lost in the cracks of time thanks to Crisis. Who was behind this little scheme? Well, of course, a little, red-headed mastermind. That’s all I’m going to say about that.
Anyway, I was chatting with one of my FR buds, and he suggested that maybe that mod should be turned into a script. Initially, I thought he was crazy, as I typically would, but over time, the itch got to me and I figured I had better scratch it. This brings us up-to-date. Today, I finished the second draft of the script, and I figured I’d post it here for anyone interested to read or give feedback on it. If you’ve played the mod, still give the script a try. The script diverges wildly from the mod concept… so much that I should probably give it a whole new name. Decisions, decisions.
