Amazanauts -- Dr. Mike/AA

Amazanauts by Dr. Mike and Afghan Ant

So, if you haven’t been keeping up with forum news, then you probably don’t know what this post is about. That’s OK; let me fill you in on some deets. A few months ago, Dr. Mike teased that he was returning to modding. As time passed, we learned that he and Afghan Ant were working together on a new mod that would introduce some new and interesting tricks into the Freedom Force modding circuit. A few weeks ago, myself and a few others got to test the beta version. As of today, the mod is finally out and you can grab it here: Amazanauts

If you’ve never gotten around to playing a mod created by Mike, then let me tell you that you’re missing out. He’s one of the communities most creative and prolific modders, and he truly manages to bring new experiences to the game each time he puts out a project. This mod is no exception. While I’ve yet to play the finished copy, the beta was more than exceptional, and I loved every minute of it. The characters are awesome in their setup and are wonderfully skinned by Afghan Ant and Dr. Mike themselves. The levels and the variations on them are great and will offer quite the amount of replayability if you’re a person that likes to play missions over and over again without them feeling old or repetitive. That’s right, people, each mission of the mod can be played in a variety of modes and you can choose the order of the missions you want to play. It’s truly a never-ending story. Interpret that as you may. I have to say that the thing that probably impressed me the most about the mod is all the references Dr. Mike managed to work in. If you’ve a keen mind, you just might be surprised by the things you see referenced.

Ahh, but that’s enough gushing for now. FRP2 is in a low period, but hopefully that’ll be ending soon. Regardless, it’s always nice to see a new mod out there, and if you guys still have Freedom Force 1 installed, please go give it a try. I assure you that you’ll have fun.
