Darkest Reign
Nov 28th
“In Darkest Reign. In undelivered plight. No Marvel idea shall be executed right!” – one of murs47′s braincells
Everyone loves an underdog. So, when I read what Marvel wanted to do post Secret Invasion I was pretty excited about the position it would put our heroes in. A villain becoming the director of the planet’s global security force certainly puts our heroes in a corner. Norman Osborn with absolute power = super-heroes dying, mutants being enslaved, or any other horrific act we can think of, right? No, it doesn’t. It means we’ll be reading about an underachieving psychopath that probably couldn’t put paper in a printer.
So what went wrong? First off, the simple decision of labeling this short era was a mistake. That in itself raises expectations dramatically. But more importantly was that there was no loss of hope for heroes overcoming this “Dark Reign”. Yeah Norman was legally in charge but he lost every single battle in every single title. He, his Thunderbolts, and Dark Avengers pretty much got beat up by Deadpool. Deadpool is in an idiot! How is he manhandling the planet’s best clandestine operation and its most dangerous operatives? How!
Marvel , what you had in your hand was a golden opportunity to put our heroes back to square one and make them the underdogs again. Instead, you failed. Nice job!
*sigh* At least Secret Warriors is awesome.
We’re back… with content to boot?
Nov 28th
First of all, happy belated Turkeyday to all the USA residents that visit the site. We hope you all had a good one. Now let’s get to business. We went on a very small hiatus this month thanks to various Bdays and holidays, but we’re back in action… for now at least. This week on FRP2, you can find a spotlight on Hitman available for your perusal, a post on Marvel’s Dark Reign in Murs’ Corner, and a new skin (The Vanisher) by Chuck up for release. Enjoy.
Spotlight On: Hitman
Nov 28th
Who’s that bad blue dude with the Hawaiian shirt? HItman! That’s right. Today FRP2 decides to shine a white, but bright, light on the occasional skinner and movie reviewer Hitman to see what he’s been up to over the past few years. Is he just an ultimate tease or has burnout and the lack of time gotten the better of him? Please… us true thinkers know what really happened. Let’s just say a little vampire and a ton of explosives were involved. Intense, no?

Chocolate: A Love Affair?
Nov 6th
Sometimes, when I’m in a creative zone, I write things that freak me out to a degree. This is one of those times. In an effort to stretch my writing muscle after a few months of inactivity outside of comic, film, and song writing, I decided to give Bluebard’s fiction challenge a try. This… was the result. If you’re wondering, yes, I do sometimes think I fell off the deep end and never recovered. I tend to blame Murs for such things.
Spotlight On: Detourne
Nov 6th
Who is the real Detourne? Is he an alien sent from outer space to spy on us and get our secrets for an evil mastermind? Is he a shape-shifter akin to Mystique with the same malicious intent? Don’t be silly, gangers. Detourne is one of those low-key members of the FR community that you’ll take notice of, but you can’t always remember what it is he does (skinning and skoping). Today, FRP2 takes a shining to Detourne to determine exactly what talents he keeps under his sleeves, and why he’s been away from the content train. Silly, Det… we’re on to you.
JLA/Avengers: The Prelude
Nov 6th
I know this is an older video from earlier this year, but what’s the harm in showing it off to get it and BinaryPictureShow some more feedback and love? You might recall that he/they also put together another video last year that revolved around a scene from Marvel’s Civil War. I think a lot of good effort went into it, and hopefully you guys that haven’t seen it yet will enjoy it as well. If you like it, leave a comment; if you don’t, then don’t. I mean really, it’s not rocket science.
. Video after the jump.
Wolverine on the brain…?
Nov 4th
Let’s go off the topic of Freedom Force for a little bit and talk about a book I really enjoy: Wolverine: Weapon X by
Jason Aaron. Every issue of this book, I have found myself enjoying. Sure, it’s a little on the violent side from time to time, but I feel that Aaron is one of the few writers in modern comic history that actually has a good handle on Logan as a character. Not only does he give Logan his obligatory “slash slash slash” fighting scenes, but he injects humor, wisdom, and actual soul into the character. In every book Aaron has written that’s featured Wolverine, I’ve never felt like I’ve been reading the stagnated character that modern writers like to use. You know the version… the character that just has to show up and give gruff, dry sarcasm to everyone. Aaron’s Wolverine seems to have a purpose beyond that, and I enjoy it.
This latest issue, however, is something I didn’t expect to see from anyone in the field at the moment. Wolverine has
lost his mind… or has he? Trapped in an asylum with several other people that seem to be just as slash-happy as he is, Logan can barely remember anything. What he does remember seem to be things that just couldn’t happen in real life. I mean, who has ever heard of teleporting mutants? No one, right? And yet, this asylum seems to be run by people who could care less about their patients. Could Wolverine have finally met his own twisted version of The Joker? Will someone lose their mind quite literally? Is crossdressing becoming the new IT thing? Find out, dear reader, in Wolverine: Weapon X. Be aware, gang, issue 6 is not your typical Wolverine story. It’s quite a twist, and anyone looking for a good tale with a slight horror tone to it, this is for you.
What’s the haps?
Nov 1st
…What happened this week? Well, first of all, happy belated Halloween to all of you. I hope you all had a good time doing whatever it is you do. Secondly, spotlights round 3 has begun! Although there’s still a missing spotlight from round 2 thanks to conflicting schedules, we started round 3 off with Hero Maker supreme, USAgent, to see if we could lure him back into active duty. How did we do? Go read it and find out.
Oh, big news, PCTales episode 2 is finally out for the public, and we hope many of you download it and give us your feedback. It was a month’s worth of hard work and, I don’t want to brag, but I think it came out very spiffy. Go see for yourself, yeah? Fourthly, Murs is still working on his love-fest post and has yet to finish; however, he is working on a “Branding” project where he basically redesigns sport teams’ logos. Why don’t you all go support him by giving him feedback and suggestions? You Canadians would be especially useful at the moment. And not to nudge you or anything, but if you want to give him a mighty smack for me, go right on ahead. I’m sure he deserves it.
PCTales 2… released?!
Nov 1st
Ok, maybe I was just a day late… you won’t hold that against me, right? Anyway, Episode 2 is finally ready to go, and I hope you all enjoy what Benton, I, and newcomer John Jr. have put together for you. In this episode, you’ll find 6 new missions waiting for you to play. Not only do El Diablo, Man O’ War, and The Bard find a conclusion to their stories, but other heroes find themselves in danger as well. Are we one step closer to reforming Freedom Force or are the villains finally getting an upperhand? Find out in… PCTales Episode 2!
The link above links to a RAR file that you’ll need to unRar over your PCTales folder. If you need help, you can look after the “jump” for more information.
Spotlight On: USAgent
Nov 1st
If you’ve been around the FF circuit for any amount of time, then you probably know just how difficult making precise, and as accurate as can be, herofiles may be from time to time. Lucky for us, and the newbies that just happened to pick up the STEAM version of the game, herofile maker extreme USAgent is around making them for us. With over 2,000 herofiles in his stash for both FF and FFv3R, FRP2 takes the time to spotlight the occasional skinner, USAgent, to see if he’ll keep his shield in active duty… or something.
