Two Skins and a Spotlight…
May 31st
If you haven’t noticed already, round two of spotlights have started and DJ was the first one up. It’s an interesting read, so go give it a glance. Secondly, Chuck releases two new original skins. B.O.B and Mud Dauber. Look forward to more good stuff…on the horizon.
Spotlight On: DeathJester
May 29th
He’s known as the dirtiest and most undead skinner on FR and he just happens to be a skinner that supports original skins over mainstream. Although he’s a colossal tease and has yet to release any of the works of art he showed off last year with Carravaggio, today we take the spotlight and shine it on DJ to see if we can find out two things: 1) If he’ll ever release any more skins and 2) How’s the undead life?

Akinator knows what you’re thinking!
May 26th
So just before LP and I got into an intense fight about Darkstar and Iceman (don’t ask), he sent me a link to this site that can supposedly guess the celebrity/character you’re thinking about. Skeptical as I may be about crazy people sending me links, I gave it a try anyway. It got two characters out of three correct, and those aren’t bad stats by any means. If you want to give the site a try for yourself, go here. Otherwise, well…I guess this post was useless to you, huh?
Cheerio, Captain Britain!
May 19th
If you’ve been keeping up with the comic forums on FR in any degree, then you know I have a bright love for the book known as, Captain Britain and the MI13 (CB&MI13). Unfortunately, the series’ writer has confirmed that the book has been canceled via his blog. I find that to be very unfortunate, but I am pleased that Cornell was allowed to convey the story he wanted to tell. His run on the book is some of the best treatment Capt. Brit and several of his cast mates have gotten in years, and it’s depressing that Marvel would allow such a book to slip from their grasps while keeping something like Wolverine: Origins on the shelves. The series had several things going for it and was launched off a very subpar crossover involving the skrulls. I can honestly say that the skrulls never felt like a threat in ANY main book or even most of the tie-ins, but in CB&MI13, they felt like a legitimate powerhouse that actually had some form of rational and a plan they set into action. The only other book that relayed this feeling to me is Jason Aaron’s Black Panther tie-in.
Late entry…

Koenig didn’t want to be left out of the update, so he sent several new maps (5 in fact) for you guys to enjoy. Said new maps are “Castle Dracula”, “Underwater_X3″, and “Western Town”. Enjoy!
Cooling off…literally
May 15th
Looks like FRP finally hit the cooling off area, so I suppose everyone can stop expecting weekly updates of content even though no content was released last week as well. Anyway, this week on FRP you can grab a single old school fx known as the “snowflake beam,” and you can check out coding tip numero nueve! Anyone looking to get into the very basics of python coding might want to give that tip a read. Also, I want to point out that two new links were added to the links sidebar: LP’s Repository and TMX’s Herofile site. Go check them out. Finally, before I end this post, I want to link to The Ultimate Evil’s blog which you can find here. Who knows, maybe you’ll enjoy what you see?
Oh hey, make sure to check out the other blog posts too, and the next FX pack should be out soon…On the Horizon!
Archangel…the mod? No way!
May 15th
Lately I’ve been mentally bombarded with the idea to do an Archangel mod. While that may sound fun (or awful depending on where you stand with the character), I find it very difficult coming up with a plausible mod story to build around this character. I suppose part of the reason is that he has like three personalities he’s developed over the years and no real enemies to build off. The other reason might be because Angel, by his lonesome, is just not an engaging or viable lead without a great cast around him. I mean, he’s no Wolverine is he? So, I’m interested in hearing what some of you might do or want in a mod involving Archangel. Keep in mind that there’s not a huge chance anything could be realized, but seeing the idea could spark SOMEONE to make an all new mod. We all want new mods right? Thought so.
Coding Tip #9
May 15th
In the old days before there was an ezscript, modders had to do things the hard way and learn python. And although Ezscript is able to pull off some amazing feats, having a bit of python knowledge to round out your skill set might just be a good idea. So, sometime around 2006 or 2007, I set out and made a guide to basic scripting which I figured could help some people jump into the modding circle. Unfortunately, I don’t recall an upsurge in modders after its release, but here it is for anyone that may or may not be curious as to how to mod Freedom Force using python.
Scripting Tutorial: The Basics
The tutorial is a pdf file and unfortunately, some of the links are broken. However, if you find yourself needing those links, you can find them below.
Scripting Tutorial Example Mission/Py file
And that’s the tip for this week. Hope you enjoy it.
Text to Movie? What?
May 3rd
FRP hasn’t been updating with true random posts in awhile, so here’s one to make up for it. I recently came across quite a cool little project that some of you writers, or movie making enthusiasts, might want to check out for your own enjoyment. It’s an online, and free, program known as Xtranormal. It’s basically a tool that let’s you write a script for up to two characters and then have said script played out minimally with 3-d, yet simplistic, characters. The program is a bit limited, but considering that it’s in beta, online, and free, I think you could get quite the enjoyment from it. As of now, I have done a video for testing purposes (based off a comic script I wrote some months ago), and you can check it out below to see if you want to give the program a whirl. Enjoy
Spotlight On: Cmdrkoenig
May 1st
He’s known as one of the few remaining, and most prominent, mappers in the Freedom Force community. Always delivering with unique maps to make the game more enjoyable and versatile, Koenig also has found himself dipping his toe into the skinning and, even more recently, modding arena. Willing to try some new things and even honoring the requests of some long time wanted maps, today the FRP spotlights CmdrKoenig.
